How it works

One clock, three taps.

Your crew starts the day on their first job, switches as they go, and ends it once.

  1. The clock starts when they tap their first job, or Shop or Office.

  2. Stopping a job moves the clock to Between jobs, and that time counts toward hours.

  3. Break is the only time left out of hours, and End day stops the clock for the day.

No more guessing at timesheets.

Jobs, drives, shop time and breaks sit on one line, so no hour falls in a gap.

Drive time and shop time, finally counted.

Stop a job and the clock keeps running as Between jobs, counting toward hours until the next one starts.

  • Nobody taps anything to count the drive.
  • Add your own time types, like Shop or Training.

Forgotten clock‑outs fix themselves.

A clock left running closes at midnight. Next time they open Stride, one tap sets when they stopped.

  • Until they answer, that last stretch isn’t in their hours or billed.

Time tracked on the job.
Straight onto the invoice.

“We weren’t tracking time, and things were getting missed when we put invoices together. Now we can pull time straight from the job onto the invoice. It’s been a big help.”

Bill evenings at evening rates.

Set your business hours once. Job time outside them bills at your after-hours or holiday rate, split to the minute.

  • Nobody on the crew picks a rate.
  • Job costs stay at straight time.

Regular, overtime and holiday hours for each person, ready for the payroll tool you already use.

  • Overtime is calculated on hours past 40 in your workweek.

Off paper tickets.
Ready to add technicians.

“Before Stride, every job ran on pen and paper, and too much of it lived in our heads. Now our techs put their time and receipts on the job, so accounting isn’t hunting down receipts or sorting out which account to bill. We see every job under the status names we use, and we feel confident adding more technicians.”

What’s the best way to track employee hours in the field?

Record them as they happen, on the job they belong to, instead of rebuilding the week from memory on a timesheet. With Stride, your crew runs one clock from their phone. Job time lands on its job, the drive between jobs counts on its own, and the week adds itself up for payroll.

Is it easy for my crew to clock in and out?

Yes. Stride runs in the browser on the phone they already have, so there’s nothing to install. A normal day is a few taps: start a job, stop it, end the day. Starting the next thing ends the last one, so there’s never a second clock to stop. See how the clock works.

What happens if an employee forgets to clock out?

A forgotten clock-out never pads anyone’s hours. A day still running at midnight closes on its own, and the next time they open Stride, it asks when they stopped and offers the likely times. Until someone answers, that last stretch isn’t in anyone’s hours or billed. The office can set the real stop time for them.

Does Stride count drive time between jobs?

Yes, on its own. Stop a job, and the clock keeps running as Between jobs until the next one starts, so the drive is in each person’s hours without anyone tapping anything. How you pay drive time is up to your policy and your state’s rules.

Does Stride calculate overtime?

Yes, in hours. Stride calculates overtime on hours past 40 in a workweek automatically, with no overtime type for anyone to pick, and your week starts on the day you choose, so it lines up with payroll. Stride counts hours, not pay, so overtime pay and your state’s rules are worked out in payroll.

Does it take out lunch breaks automatically?

No. Break is the only time left out of hours, and it comes off only when someone taps it, so a lunch nobody took never comes out of anyone’s hours. Break is meant for meals. How breaks are paid is up to your policy and your state’s rules.

Does Stride work with QuickBooks or my payroll software?

Through one export, not a sync. Stride doesn’t run payroll or send hours to QuickBooks. One CSV gives you each person’s regular, overtime and holiday hours for the week, with every entry behind them by date, plus job and customer for job time, to enter in the payroll tool you already use. See what’s in the export.

Does Stride track my crew’s location with GPS?

No. Stride doesn’t track anyone’s location. Hours come from what your crew taps on their phone, and every entry lands on the job it belongs to.

Can I charge more for after-hours work?

Yes. Set your business hours and rates once, and job time outside those hours bills at your after-hours rate, or your holiday rate on holidays, split to the minute. A visit that runs past closing bills its standard part and its after-hours part on the same invoice, and nobody on the crew picks a rate. It changes the bill, not anyone’s hours. See how after-hours billing works.

Is time tracking included, or does it cost extra?

It’s included on every plan. Time tracking is part of Stride, alongside your schedule, jobs and invoices, so there’s no separate time clock app to pay for or keep in sync. It’s in beta right now, and we turn it on for your account when you ask.
